Young Writers' Camp

 

In partnership with YouthWrite®, Metro Continuing Education and the Bennett Centre are pleased to offer Young Writers' Camps to students in grades 4-9. Camps are offered during spring break.

YouthWrite®, a prominent organization in Edmonton's writing community, has organized and hosted writing camps for kids the past 20 years. At Young Writers' Camp, students will work with top-notch published authors, learn writing techniques for specific genres, and have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance from experienced writers.

*Update: In alignment with the Alberta Government’s direction related to COVID-19, please note that Young Writers Camps for spring break 2020 are cancelled.*
 

2020 Camp Information:

Grades 4 - 9
March 23 & 24, 2020
9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Bennett Centre, 9703-94 Street NW
Camp fee: $95 plus GST

Pre and post camp supervision is available from 8:00-9:30 am and 3:30-5:00 pm for an additional cost.

Important information for our young authors for camp days:

  • Bring indoor and outdoor shoes
  • Dress for the weather as campers go outside for breaks and lunch
  • Bring a bagged lunch
  • Pencils and scribblers will be provided for each camper. 
  • Pre- and post-care campers will participate in some games; however, should also bring a book or writing project to work on.
