The Bennett Centre
The Bennett Centre develops young leaders to lead and facilitate initiatives surrounding school and community change within treaty 6 territory. As outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action and to address the standards of practice in both the Teacher Quality Standards and Leader Quality Standards we will continue to innovate programming that celebrates Indigenous and multiple diverse ways of knowing for both staff, students, and community members. We will pursue creating a community hub which animates the notion of intergenerational learning and revitalization within Edmonton Public Schools and will create a web of support to help student ideas come to life. Through this hub students will be able to interact with artists, storytellers, elders, knowledge keepers, parents/family members, and community members in residence to create projects that will honor their relations on treaty 6.
The Bennett Centre is located in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley and is a unique destination for field trips, day retreats, and overnight group accommodations.
For over a century, the Bennett Centre has been a place of learning and community nestled within the heart of amiskwaciwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Edmonton).
The crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Bennett Centre to close from early spring 2020 to summer 2021. This quiet time allowed for reflection on the Bennett Centre's past, and provided space to grow the Bennett Centre's relationship with education and community in a responsive way to the changing context of our evolving EPSB school community.
Please refer to our upcoming prototype section for more information on the kinds of programming we are now prototyping at the Bennett Centre. Please feel free to reach out to Bennett.Centre@epsb.ca or call with any questions. Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Bennett Centre soon.

Note on Past Programming:
Social and Science Programs that were offered in the past to Grade 4,5, and 6 are no longer available at the Bennett Centre.
Our current focus is working with the most socially vulnerable schools in EPSB and we now offer programming for all grade levels, K-12, as well as community programming.
